A Fun Fact To Share

  • The tradition of hanging stockings by the fireplace originated from a legend about Saint Nicholas. According to the story, a poor man had three daughters and could not afford to provide them with a dowry for marriage. Saint Nicholas heard about the family's plight and decided to help. Under the cover of darkness, he secretly dropped a bag of gold down their chimney, which ended up landing in one of the girl's stockings that were hanging by the fireplace to dry.

  • The song "Jingle Bells" was originally written for Thanksgiving, not Christmas. James Lord Pierpont composed the tune in 1857 and called it "One Horse Open Sleigh." It became so popular that it was often sung during Christmas time, eventually becoming one of the most well-known and beloved Christmas songs.

  • In Japan, it has become a popular tradition to celebrate Christmas with a bucket of Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC). This unusual practice started in 1974 when KFC launched an advertising campaign featuring a "Christmas Party Barrel" that became a huge success. As Christmas isn't traditionally celebrated in Japan, KFC's marketing strategy created a new and unexpected holiday tradition that continues to this day.
