A Fun Fact To Share

  • The popular holiday song "Jingle Bells" was originally written for Thanksgiving, not Christmas. It was composed by James Lord Pierpont in 1857 and titled "One Horse Open Sleigh."

  • In Ukraine, it is a tradition to hang spider webs on the Christmas tree. This unique custom originates from a folktale about a poor widow who could not afford to decorate her tree. The spiders in her house took pity and spun beautiful webs that turned into silver and gold on Christmas morning.

  • The tradition of hanging stockings by the fireplace can be traced back to the legend of St. Nicholas. According to the story, St. Nicholas dropped three bags of gold coins down the chimney of a poor man's house, which landed in the stockings that were drying by the fire. This act of kindness became the inspiration behind the tradition of filling stockings with gifts.
